See File:Thoughtful Foods Close Checklist April14.pdf for a handy checklist. This should be printed out, laminated, and kept next to the till for coordinators to sign off on at the end of each day.
- Bring in the sign that says “we're open”.
- Close and lock the doors.
- Close the till (see ‘How to Close the Register’ for more information), and put everything in the safe in the plastic bag to protect it from water damage.
- If it's a Thursday, SMS the finance person to let them know what change was used from the change box.
- Check for scoops that have been left in barrels
- Close all container lids and taps very tightly and wipe down all lids
- Wipe down scales, counter, and sinks
- Wash all scoops, tongs, and the bucket in which they are kept
- Cover soaps with cloth
- Cover peanut butter machine opening with plastic and rubber band
- Sweep the floor, the follow this procedure to ensure the floor is sparkling clean:
- Mop the floor once with hot water
- Mop the floor again with Sparkle floor cleaner; for really dirty areas, put Sparkle directly onto the area and mop
- Bring clothing rack inside
- Bring trolley inside
- Bring all signs inside
- Put Cottage Industry in the fridge (if necessary). From September to May, place dried Mango, date and coconut rolls, date and almond rolls, Govinda Bars, and Bibba biscuits in the fridge
- Turn off the lights and fan at the powerpoint
- Turn off the scales and register at the powerpoint by the sink
- Put safe key back into the metal vegie box
- Put the tarp over the counter
- Take out the bins
- Close and lock the door
- If the trestle tables are out, fold them and put them up against the wall.
- Only follow this procedure at the end of the day. If you need to close and lock the shop in the middle of the day (say, if no one is on during the next shift) then simply bring everything in from outside, turn off the lights and lock the door).
