General Cleanliness

  • Clean tea towels are available for drying utensils, cups and plates. Do not dry the recycled containers but follow the sterile washing procedures (See cleaning containers for details. Instructions are also provided on a sign above the sink). The Coop’s towel and rag washer will wash and return dirty tea towels and rags each week.
  • Only use the dish brush for cleaning containers, crockery and cutlery. Use sponges for cleaning shelves and the sink.
  • If utensils are dropped or placed on the counter or any other dirty surface, or become dirty, please wash them or leave them near the sink for washing.
  • If you have to mop a spill on the floor, use the mop or a rag. If you have to use a sponge, please throw it out immediately as it is too confusing to have ‘clean’ and ‘dirty’ sponges.
  • If you clean an area that does not get cleaned every day, note it in the diary so people know where to target there cleaning efforts and are reminded to do similar tasks.
