  1. Neatly update container label with the following for the new stock:
    • Ingredients
    • Price (incl striking out per kg or each, whichever one applies, and striking out GST unless it is a GST item) (see Markups for more info)
    • Source – note whether packet says “Product of” or “produced in” and choose label accordingly.
    • Last refilled date and best before date (on the back of the label) (all containers?)
The label kit lives in the pigeonholes against the front wall.
If the price on the new stock is the same as on the barrel, then no problem, refill away.
If it’s slightly different and there’s not much old stock left, then put the new price on the barrel. If there’s a huge difference then it’s usually best to wait for the ::barrel to run empty before putting the new stock in.
  1. Put new stock into identical clean, dry container, leaving room for old stock to be placed on top. (See cleaning containers for more info. For locating products to refill, see what product goes where?)
  2. Place old stock into container on top of new stock
    • Leave some free space on top of the container to avoid spillage during use
    • Remember to transfer the label to the new container

Pre-jarring products

Many liquids and pastes that come in barrels should be pre-jarred. See Stock management for more info on this.
